Issues
Having faithfully served as a council member and Vice Mayor, I understand many of the challenges facing our town. While Gilbert was recently ranked nationally the 16th best overall place to live, the safest in Arizona (22nd nationally) and we enjoy a 98% approval rating by our citizens, to remain a great place to live and raise a family I think we must continue to focus on public safety and important quality of life issues facing Gilbert.
Public Safety
With over twenty-five years public safety experience, I understand the challenges public safety officials face. My top priority is to continue focusing on protecting our family’s safety by ensuring the best police, fire and medical services are available. As chairman and member of the fire and police subcommittees, high standards were set for fire and police manning levels and response times, essential for our safety.
Traffic
Like you, I resent the long traffic delays that only seem to get worse. Although Gilbert did an excellent job in completing the San Tan Freeway ahead of schedule and a million dollars under budget, we can maximize traffic flows by coordinating construction projects better, utilizing street light coordination and timing techniques and by widening streets.
Spending your money wisely
I voted to lower property tax rates twice recently. We’ve kept Gilbert’s spending under control and expended tax dollars wisely. As such, Gilbert’s economy is thriving; we’ve enjoyed more businesses in recent years than previous history. New business keeps our economy strong, our taxes low and makes our community vibrant.
As your voice on the council, my priorities are keeping us safe, improving our quality of life, listening to concerns and ensuring our town thrives.
I hope I can count on your vote on March 13, 2007.
